Before your procedure
It is Wasatch Endoscopy Center’s policy to collect any co-pays or deductibles prior to your procedure. You will be given specific information regarding this during your pre-registration phone call. Please remember to bring your insurance card and any co-pays or deductibles to your appointment.
Because you will be sedated for your procedure please arrange in advance for someone to drive you home. You will not be allowed to drive yourself home or take a cab/bus unaccompanied if you have received sedation. Your stay at our center is usually less than 2 hours total. Your driver should try to remain in the facility while you are in procedure and be available to talk with your physician after your exam. Your driver must sign that they will be responsible to drive you home.
Change in condition
If you experience illness prior to your procedure such as a fever, cough or shortness of breath then please contact your physician.
Diet
You will receive diet and preparation instructions specific to the procedure you are having. Compliance with your diet instructions is vital and your procedure may be cancelled if you don’t follow these instructions. Medications
You will also be given specific instructions regarding your medications. On the day of the procedure, you may take your blood pressure and/or heart medications with a sip of water, if you usually take them in the morning. Call your physician for specific instructions if you take insulin or blood thinners such as Coumadin (Warfarin).
Please bring a complete list of your medications (including names and dosages) to your procedure. This list should include all prescription medications, vitamins, supplements and herbs.
Clothing
Wear loose, comfortable clothing and stable shoes that are easily removed on the day of your procedure. Leave valuables such as jewelry at home.
After your procedure
After your procedure you will be monitored for 20-30 minutes, until awake enough to leave the center. You will usually be able to eat and drink normally and resume limited activities upon discharge, but you will be given specific instructions from your physician before leaving. If you have received sedation then you should not drive or operate machinery until the following day.
